ENTREVISTA – ANDRÉ TEOMAN ABOUT CHARTRES

CREATIVE TALKS – CREATIVE EDUCATION WITH PAULA TAVARES

AT – This topic couldn’t be discussed with anyone better than you. Thank you for accepting my invitation dear Paula Tavares. I say this because you were the person that had the greatest influence in turning me into a designer. When I was a child I was divided between different creative fields in which I wanted to work on and if it weren’t for you I wouldn’t be who I am today. You are one of the finest teachers I had, a renowned entity in education, research and especially in Illustration, that’s why you are the perfect person for this topic.

WHAT I LEARNED WITH OUTSOURCED PROTOTYPES.

I haven’t been inside the design business for too long, but this is starting to be a great third year and with more than 35 pieces in the market I’ve had my share of headaches due to them. I will talk lightly about my experience, hoping it will help someone avoid the mistakes I made (but don’t be afraid to make them).

A' DESIGN AWARD WINNER – CHARTRES – 2014 / 2015

It all started with a research about the handmade stained glass technique. The objective was to increase the work flow of some small companies. I was in love with the effect that these colors made when exposed to light. The amazing feelings these combinations gave me. Our senses are just receptors of information that’re turn into feelings. But there are some feelings that we can’t identify the origin of. With Chartres I wanted to go beyond the five senses and reach a new feeling that despite highly influenced by our visual sense gave us comfort and a new way to see a traditional technique, giving a new feeling to your home.

CREATIVE TALKS WITH SERGIO LARANJEIRA : CREATIVE WAYS TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAM.

AT – “I was also always trying to help my students to follow their dreams.” I happened to read this in your “How Quiting My Dream Saved My Life” essay, great story by the way, and I knew right then that I had to have this “creative talk” with you. More than a teacher I consider you as a friend, and if life was slightly different maybe I could have been your co-worker if I hadn’t gone to work in Oporto right after finishing my degree. Do you still remember your invitation?

24H DESIGN – TWO FRIENDS AND THREE PIECES

Two Friends and Three Pieces, was more than about creating a piece, it was about a social experiment about creativity in a time trial and how three friends would manage to do it. It’s true that good results take time, and that creativity isn’t triggered by pressure “When creativity is under the gun, it usually ends up getting killed. Although time pressure may drive people to work more and get more done…” (AMABILE, Teresa
