Kaleidoscope at EXD 15

There was a lot on my mind lately, and I must say I wasn’t used to deal with this kind of pressure on my own. Even knowing that I had all my friends supporting me I couldn’t sleep right or think right, because all my focus was on the problems that needed solving. The production of a commissioned piece and the Kaleidoscope, the preparations of an exhibition for the beginning of 2016, a new catalogue, new pieces for a lighting brand ... and more.

ENTREVISTA – ANDRÉ TEOMAN ABOUT CHARTRES

CREATIVE TALKS – CREATIVE EDUCATION WITH PAULA TAVARES

AT – This topic couldn’t be discussed with anyone better than you. Thank you for accepting my invitation dear Paula Tavares. I say this because you were the person that had the greatest influence in turning me into a designer. When I was a child I was divided between different creative fields in which I wanted to work on and if it weren’t for you I wouldn’t be who I am today. You are one of the finest teachers I had, a renowned entity in education, research and especially in Illustration, that’s why you are the perfect person for this topic.

In collaboration with the Portuguese newspaper Publico the author covered from graphic to fashion to product. All areas are represented and their social context and evolution explained. A great book to have in your collection if you are a Portuguese Design enthusiast.

I will talk lightly about my experience, hoping it will help someone avoid the mistakes I made (but don’t be afraid to make them).

A' DESIGN AWARD WINNER – CHARTRES – 2014 / 2015

It all started with a research about the handmade stained glass technique. The objective was to increase the work flow of some small companies. I was in love with the effect that these colors made when exposed to light. The amazing feelings these combinations gave me. Our senses are just receptors of information that’re turn into feelings. But there are some feelings that we can’t identify the origin of. With Chartres I wanted to go beyond the five senses and reach a new feeling that despite highly influenced by our visual sense gave us comfort and a new way to see a traditional technique, giving a new feeling to your home.
