Lazarim Wood
Lazarim Wood
This Lazarim stool is an ode to Lazarim celebrations, in a utilitarian creative vehicle. This reinterpretation of three Lazarim masks creates a transition from the flatness of the piece to the three dimensionality, and the stiffness of the object acquires movement.
In a context where we are bombarded with an avalanche of information and live at a frenetic pace, risking seeing our local culture gradually diluted by global culture, it is crucial to highlight the uniqueness of regional celebrations.
The choice of material, chestnut wood, sculpted by a sculptor of sacred art from Braga who masters the carving technique, is finished just to enhance its natural tones. The piece also features two bases of different sizes adorned with straw frills, once again evoking the characteristic attire of the Lazarim carnival masks.
